ST CROIX, USVI -- Forensic detectives in the US Virgin Islands said a positive identification of the three persons who died in a single engine plane crash on Thursday on St Croix can only be made through dental records.
The VIPD Victim/Witness advocate along with a Red Cross representative met with the families of the passengers believed to have been in the plane during the crash. They were notified that their loved ones may have been on the plane.
The names of the deceased have not been released by the VIPD, which is the official agency to release this information, until a positive identification is ascertained.
Historically there have been instances where persons believed to be on downed planes or in other such disasters were incorrectly identified. Because of the condition of the bodies, which were burned beyond any visual recognition, the VIPD maintains it will rely only on a positive identification through dental records. | | | | Reads : 747 | | | |
