ST THOMAS, USVI: The influential American Medical Association and the Congressional Black Caucus have asked the Obama Administration to nominate physician and USVI Delegate to Congress, Donna Christensen, for the Cabinet Post of Secretary of Health and Human Services.

“This would be good for the Virgin Islands,” stated Christensen in a news release issued this past Thursday. Christensen said that having her name under consideration for the nation’s top health policy role should facilitate her influence on behalf of the Virgin Islanders among her congressional colleagues and at the White House level.

However; the delegate, who is serving her seventh term in office, doubts that Obama will select her for the position. “This is truly an honor for me, but I don’t expect that to happen,” said Christensen.
