PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands -- The Nikki Beach Resort in Providenciales, one of the Turks and Caicos Islands’ most luxurious resorts, announced on Friday that it has closed after its owners went into receivership.

Leeward Resort Ltd, the underlying owner of the resort, issued a statement saying that funding for the operation of the hotel had ceased.

“We are extremely surprised and saddened with this news. We are working tirelessly to ensure our talented and passionate staff acquires new employment and that our guest reservations are relocated smoothly,” said Jonathan Steers, General Manager of Nikki Beach Resort.

“Nikki Beach is a firm believer that our employees are our most valuable asset and we are thoroughly proud of what the team in the Turks & Caicos has accomplished since our opening last year,” he added.

Nikki Beach Hotels and Resorts are located in the most glamorous destinations around the world and offer an exclusive range of five-star amenities.

They also feature ultra VIP services, signature Nikki Beach entertainment and interactive events that are heavily influenced by art, music and fashion and film.

Since the resort opened last year, a number of Hollywood stars and international music artists have stayed at the resort.

It was also a favourite hangout of the former Premier Michael Misick, whose palatial mansion is located nearby.

Most recently, Nikki Beach played host to Ali Campbell, the former lead singer of the British reggae band UB40.
