LONDON, ENGLAND -- The London School of Business & Finance is coming to Trinidad and Tobago to host the 2009 Accounting Forum in Port of Spain, bringing together students, professionals, ACCA representatives and government officials to discuss the future of accounting and education within the Caribbean region.
Currently Trinidad and Tobago is embarking on a journey towards its Vision 2020, where to achieve developed country status, education must play an integral role. Aaron Etingen, the CEO of LSBF, has his own unique vision for 2020--educating 20 million people for free, as everyone deserves to walk on their country’s path to success. The government must ensure sufficient education supply to satisfy the rising demand for skilled, qualified and knowledgeable workers.
Professional qualifications are increasing in popularity and help Trinidad and Tobago’s citizens improve both themselves, and their country. The ACCA opened its doors in Trinidad and Tobago in 1999 in order to support the development of the accountancy profession and its stakeholders in the Caribbean region. The qualification is experiencing rapid growth in terms of student enrolment. However, students are currently struggling with the tuition options currently available causing them to attain low pass rates.
Etingen is the first to recognize the role of education in country development – “it is not about investing into projects, it is about investing into people”. Etingen is passionate about helping developing countries reach their goals of growth and prosperity. This is evident by LSBF’s emerging markets scholarship scheme introduced by its royal patron, Prince Michael of Kent. | | | | Reads : 400 | | | |
