Letter: Vincentians, keep that lamp burning

Dear Sir:

God’s promise is true, He promised never to leave us nor forsake us and this we are seeing more and more everyday. He will always find a way to save his people.

I want to thank Caribbean Net News for being the democratic ears and eyes of the people across the miles who continue to bring to us the readers all views from different aspects of news, commentary and letters with some of the most controversial topics.

The Referendum for the proposed amended Constitution of St Vincent and the Grenadines will be on November 25th, eighteen days off to be exact. It is a burning shame to see the tricks and bribery pulled on our people by the United Labour Party, the governing party. It makes me want to puke. They are so blind with power and corruption that they cannot see anyone by themselves. Desperation can cause power hungry people do things that ordinary people will not be able to conceive.

I would like someone to explain to me how this $200 promised to every student by the Prime Minister will be disbursed. As a minor, my grandchild is not legally authorized to accept money from any source. I am not sure who is advising the PM but I think someone is mad and on the loose and is considered dangerous to themselves and others. I am calling for a psychological assessment of the PM and his advisors, as head of state we must be convinced that people in high office are of stable and sound mind and I am not convinced that this is so in our state.

Vincentians, I am beseeching you to think carefully, I know that many of you may need the $200.00, as times are rough and tough but please tell me what is expected of you from this gift as the PM calls it? What does the PM expect of you after you have received this $200? In my mind you are priceless and we need to send that message to the ULP, we need to send this message loud and clear not half way. We need to let them know that the insult was rejected and that we know our worth and we will show it come November 25th.

This is the lowest and cheapest shot any leader of a country could deal to its people; we must answer the call with a resounding “NO”. We need to show the Prime Minister the $200.00 is only one small plastic bag in a supermarket because maybe he does not know that as he is so far removed from the people.

Vincentians keep that oil in your lamp burning, be sure to top it up with the Vote “No” on November 25th.
