Letter: Disgusted with the yes vote in St Vincent

Published on Friday, November 6, 2009Email To Friend    Print Version

Dear Sir:

I write to express my disgust with the way the Government in St Vincent and the Grenadines is handling the Yes Vote. I am ashamed of the fact that the Prime Minister can try such a cheap shot of offering school children $200 each at this time, just weeks before the date for the Referendum, shame on you Gonsie. Parents had to struggle in August to find money to prepare their children for the new school year but here we have a PM that is so blind that he thinks that people cannot see through him, this is only to get the index finger to do something you do not really want to do, to vote yes.

Mr Prime Minister, my people are smarter than you think, they will take the $200 and will laugh at you.

I cannot understand what is going through the minds of Ralph Gonsalves and PR, spending taxpayer’s money like it going out of style. It seems like St Vincent is the only country on the planet that does not have a financial crisis.

Three cheers to the Vote “No” committee that was recently setup, this committee is rightfully challenging the government on the unequal distribution of taxpayers' money on how the voting population should be educated on the proposed Referendum. Also, to Ivan O’Neal for bringing to the attention of the handicapped government how the hearing impaired or people with special needs must be also informed on the advantages or disadvantages of the proposed Referendum.

Both Ralph and Parnell are now enjoying a marriage of convenience, one for the love of money and the other for the love of power. They were at one time with daggers drawn at each other’s throat. Ralph went out his way to try to impeach PR while he was the Attorney General of this country now the Coco bay has turned into a parrot. They need each other more than ever because they realize that everyone is on to their tricks. They will stop at nothing to get where they want to go and will walk over and trample anyone to ensure that they get this Referendum passed.

Ralph would have never seen the office of Prime Minister not in his wildest dreams had it not been the stupidity of old Labour and PR could have never been elected to office had it not been for the NDP, they both tried and failed for years.

Vincentians do not be fooled; do not let these two men stand in the way of democracy and freedom for all, we must fight with all our might for what is right and just. I have seen men who were taken down who thought they were mightier than might who were brought down by the stroke of a pen, without an ounce of force used, only time will tell my sisters and brothers, you go out on November 25th and do what you know if right, vote “Noooo”.
