Dear Sir:
I read the Vincentian on the address made by Justice Saunders on the Privy Council and the comparison he made with the University of the West Indies, etc. I need say that this comparison is far off. We are talking apples and grapes and the more Justice Saunders opens his mouth the more I believe he is a Tommy Tucker.
Many cases were sent from the Caribbean up to the Privy Council because of the injustice handed out to the people by the court of appeal in the respective countries these cases came from. Cases if they were properly handled would not have to go there. These cases had nothing to do with culture or environment; it was about facts and evidence and political interference. Do not let some of these educated fools try to turn us around like we have no sense. Common sense is all we need to know our rights.
The people of the region all agree that is would be good to have our own court, the questions is can we trust them? We might still need another court to go to after they hear our cases. Saunders, Ralph and PR come out the same political hole. We see they are singing the same chorus. The three of them know exactly know what I am talking about. If Saunders was so concerned about Vincentians why didn’t he advise the CRC to make sure they put current market value for people’s land? Or is he hoping we will have to take these matters to the CCJ when we do not get current market value for our land?
Is he saying we should vote yes for the proposed Constitution in its present state, is he saying the only thing in it is the CCJ? Mr Saunders please let us know if you agree with everything written in the proposed Constitution. You cannot just pick one thing out of it and say we should vote for it. What happen to the rest of it that will affect our lives? You think Vincentians stupid. Well for this alone we will vote NO.
