OECS Secretariat to hold consultation on integration and cooperation in St Lucia

CASTRIES, St Lucia -- The OECS Trade Policy Unit is collaborating with the Regional Integration Unit to convene a two day consultation on regional integration and cooperation in St Lucia, August 17 to 18.

The consultation will bring together National Authorising Officers, trade and finance officials, as well as representatives of the CARICOM Secretariat and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.

Participants will examine a Regional Integration Roadmap prepared by the CARICOM Secretariat to be financed by the European Union which incorporates a work programme for establishment of the OECS Economic Union. It will identify priorities and agree on activities for finalization of the Roadmap which will be submitted to the European Union later this year.

OECS Member States have agreed to establish an Economic Union and are seeking to have an Economic Union Treaty ratified by December this year.
