Dear Sir:
A Doctor of Humanities when a Doctor of Civil Engineering is needed. A Master in Economics when a Master in Infrastructure Systems is needed.
A liberal, American educated and connected, social elitist, is the antithesis of what Haiti's next Prime Minister should look like.
She walks in the circle of social elitists who theorize about how best to help the peasant Haitian become more aware and informed about their sexual orientation and whether God exists or not. How best to help the peasant Haitian understand the role of contraceptives and why teenage sex is okay and nothing to be ashamed of. You know, the critical issues facing a starving Haitian today.
Is this what Haiti needs in a PM right now? A Doctor of Humanities? It is not!
Ms Pierre-Louis belongs in a tenured position at the posh Sarah Lawrence College in New York and not heading up what needs to be the biggest infrastructure initiative Haiti has ever experienced.
Haiti needs a brass tacks PM, who'll grab the Haitian Senators by the .... and drag them out to construction sites throughout Haiti. Forget about showing them "cultural centers" and libraries espousing the "Age of Social Enlightenment" and stick their faces into the mud of the next water treatment facility. A PM that is tough, forceful, and anxious to get the USA's Corp of Engineers equipment into place and digging. A PM that is going to carry a big stick and use it.
Come on already, Senators, wake up and show some backbone.
Do you want a PM who is highly respected in the elite social circles of the USA or a drill Sergeant who's going to be in the trenches with you creating a future for Haiti.
Do you want pomposity or straight, tough, talk?
Do you want the Corp of Engineers on your door step or the smooth talking, ultra-slick, financier George Soros?
Do you want pleasant afternoon teas where you can discuss "Hate America First" topics on the veranda or in a canvas tent out on a construction site?
Are you willing to get dirty? Are you willing to stand tall and ask for material assistance in lieu of financial assistance?
Are you willing to callous your hands?
Please allow Ms Pierre-Louis to come back in 12 years and become your PM or have her run for President. Because by then, Haiti just might have time for Social Enlightenment and who better to manage that.
