Email To Friend Print Version | BRADES, Montserrat: The Montserrat Tourist Board has announced the return of Ishwar Persad as marketing manager. Persad held the title from May 2005 to April 2007. He returns with the goal of improving Montserrat’s position in the international travel marketplace and solidifying tourism as one of the main economic contributors to the Montserrat economy.
“I am delighted to be back in Montserrat. I feel a real connection with this island paradise and look forward to contributing to the ongoing sustainable development and expansion of the island’s tourism industry,” commented Persad. “One might say that I was destined to return having drunk water from Runaway Ghaut. Local legend says that if you do, you will return to Montserrat again and again.”
A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Persad brings close to 15 years of tourism experience to the post. He was previously the Product Development Manager in the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism in Grand Cayman.
Prior to that, he was the tourism specialist with the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Tourism and also spent four years in Tobago working for three major hotels in various managerial posts.
Through the years, he broadened his experiences through management internships with the Caribbean Hotel Association in Puerto Rico, Paradise Island Resort and Casino (now Atlantis) in the Bahamas and the North-South Institute in Ottawa, Canada.
Persad left the Montserrat Tourist Board in April 2007 and moved to Tortola to work with the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board as a Product Development Consultant. While there he restructured the Product Development Unit and prepared a strategic plan for improving the tourism product.
An avid marathon runner, Commonwealth Scholarship award recipient and Government of Trinidad Scholarship Awardee, Ishwar holds a first-class honors Bachelors of Science degree in Tourism Management from the University of the West Indies and a Masters of Science degree with distinction in Tourism Planning and Development from the University of Surrey in the UK. He also holds a Masters of Arts degree in International Affairs, specializing in International Development, from the Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. | | | | Reads : 324 | | | |
