The pollster companies of Penn, Schoen & Berland, Gallup, Noxa and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner were close to the actual number of votes received by all parties and were within their anticipated margins of error, typically plus or minus 3 percent.
With 100 percent of the votes tallied, the Central Electoral Board stated that the incumbent President Leonel Fernandez of the PLD, won with 54 percent; Miguel Vargas Maldonado of the PRD, 40 percent; and Amable Aristy Castro of the PRSC, 4 percent; with 1 percent of the votes divided between the other four candidates.
Penn published its last poll from April 21 to 25, with 56, 37 and 5, for the respective candidates and was closest to the actual count.
