BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: The US Commercial Service of the United States Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, in partnership with the Florida Foreign Trade Association (FFTA), is organising a trade mission for business persons seeking to source products and services, along with investment opportunities in Miami and Tampa, June 24 - 29, 2007.

During the six-day mission participants will: meet potential suppliers and business partners in scheduled, one-on-one meetings; tour port operations at Miami and Tampa, two of the busiest US ports and commercial gateways to the Caribbean; visit the Miami International Airport to learn of the services provided by the Airport; attend special seminars on import/export financing/ freight consolidation, and doing business in the State of Florida.

“This is the first time the US Commercial Service has partnered with the FFTA on a trade mission of this scope,” said Doreen Weekes, US Commercial Service representative at the US Embassy in Barbados. “Last year, bilateral trade between the State of Florida and the Eastern Caribbean reached US$663 million. We feel this kind of contact will offer Caribbean business persons an invaluable opportunity to explore new possibilities for their own enterprises.”

The FFTA is a non-profit trade organization representing a diverse group of individuals and companies in the foreign trade market. FFTA routinely holds workshops and seminars for beginning business persons, for experienced business professionals new to the import/export market, and for in depth information on other business-related topics.

Barbadian and Eastern Caribbean business persons interested in participating may contact Doreen Weekes at the US Embassy: 246-227-4068 or doreen.weekes@mail.doc.gov. The deadline for applications is May 21, 2007.
