PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad: One of Trinidad and Tobago's top attorneys, Queens Counsel Karl Hudson-Phillips, is expected to resign as a judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) with effect from September 30.
Hudson-Phillips was elected to the ICC in 2003 and has served as a part-time judge for the past 4 years. He was one of the five judges from the group of Latin America and Caribbean countries.
President of the International Criminal Court, Judge Philippe Kirsch of Canada, thanked Hudson-Phillips for his dedicated service to the court and for his contributions to establishing the judicial foundations of the ICC.
Kirsch also said that due to the fact that the Court had made so much progress and was now beginning to fulfill its ambitious mission, owed much to the contributions of Hudson Phillips.
Hudson-Phillips' career has spanned a long history in the legal field, not only in Trinidad but internationally. It was not immediately clear what were his reasons for resigning from the post. |
