American Idol might be one of the most successful TV programs in the world. The Prime Minister of Great Britain openly insinuates that he draws his inspiration from the program in drafting the British economic plan for unleashing the creativity of the Britons. Simon Cowell, the British producer, might have stroke a chord in the American psyche of self realization. He has set the canvass wide open for anyone who believes he or she has a singing talent.

Amongst some 100.000 contestants from across the country and even the world, a daughter of the Caribbean, Joanne Borgella, 25, is one of the 12 female final contestants. She has obtained the accolade of Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul for her rendition of “I love you“ by Celine Dion.
She brings to the contest, the freshness of the islands, the sheer talent of her voice and her outstanding character shaped by her parents.
She is the daughter of Paule Danielle and Dr Joel Borgella a renowned gynecologist, a failed candidate in the last Haiti presidential election. His program of creating a shared vision and sense of appurtenance in the country could have served well Haiti, in these hard times.
Joanne was born in the United States but spent her early years of schooling in Haiti, where she acquired the skills of art and science but also discovered her inner calling as a singer while performing at a school concert at the United Nations School in Haiti.
Joanne achieved her stellar performance for the American Idol competition in spite of the drawback of her plus sized model. She is a pioneer for all those who believe that sheer talent has nothing to do with the slim look prescribed by the media and marketing gurus. She is waving high the wind of change that is passing through the world.
Having a daughter of the Caribbean reach the zenith of American Idol, will be seen as an asset for each one of the islands. Some 250 million people watch the program twice a week. If we can obtain a miniscule share of that market in visiting the settings of this upcoming star, we would already have a win out of this world renowned contest.
The last step of the competition includes not only the stiff standard of Simon, Paula and Randy, it will require the vote of million of fans all over the United States, all over the Caribbean and all over the world. You can visit Fox 5 or use the toll free telephone number 1-866- IDOLS 01 – through 12 to vote for Joanne Borgella in the final tally. | | | | Reads : 309 | | | |
