Email To Friend Print Version | BRADES, Montserrat: Montserrat’s soca star Garvin “Scrappy” Johnson has signed a major deal with one of Europe’s biggest music labels.
German based Faluma Digital will now be responsible for selling Scrappy’s music via digital downloads through the popular Apple website iTunes, and several other websites including Sony, AOL and Napster.
It is the first time the European music label has signed an artiste from Montserrat.
Faluma Digital music store is the home of a number of top Caribbean artistes including the Red Hot Flames, Atlantic, David Rudder, Krosfyah and the Mighty Sparrow.
Scrappy says going digital will surely allow him to make an impact worldwide with his music and provide a major marketing platform for his brand.
“This is a very big step for me in my musical career and for my island of Montserrat. The aim is to make people worldwide know that soca music is a genre of music to be considered and also to help motivate young upcoming artists to keep on fighting the struggles because one day it will pay off."
Scrappy is currently in the United Kingdom promoting the new album, "Dreams Are Reality". | | | | Reads : 238 | | | |
