The officers, drawn from the Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police Force (RABPF), the Drug Squad and the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering and Control Policy underwent two days of firearms and tactical training sponsored by the United States Embassy in Bridgetown.
The training consisted of vehicle stops, training in conducting raids, effective arrests and handcuffing techniques and firearms training using both pistols and shotguns.
The instructors and ammunition for the course were provided by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration Caribbean Division.
During the closing ceremony, Assistant Commissioner of the RABPF Albert Smith thanked the instructors noting that the training was welcomed as the island was preparing, like the rest of the Caribbean to host matches as part of the ICC Cricket World Cup. |
