ST THOMAS, USVI: The Miss Virgin Islands Scholarship Organization, Inc. has invited the public to tune in to TLC (The Learning Channel) to watch the current 2007 Miss Virgin Islands, Janeisha John, in Miss America: Reality Check - a four-part televised, reality special, which will follow 52 beauty queens as they prepare to compete in the 2008 Miss America Pageant.

Miss America: Reality Check premiered on Friday, January 4 at 10pm ET/PT, and will continue to air on the next three consecutive Friday nights in the 10pm ET/PT time period leading up to TLC's live two-hour broadcast of the 2008 Miss America Pageant from Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on Saturday, January 26 at 8pm ET.

For the first time in the Miss America Pageant's 86-year history, the 52 hopefuls are living together under one roof, as Miss America: Reality Check follows them as they participate in numerous events and challenges geared towards preparing them for the main event.

When asked to describe her experience in participating in the four-part special, Janeisha John said, “I learned a lot from my experience. Like many of the contestants, I don’t have a typical mold to follow when participating in a pageant such as 2008 Miss America pageant, so I have gained a lot of knowledge. Miss America: Reality Check has opened my eyes even more to being a woman that all girls across America and in the Caribbean can relate to. All of the 52 young women are incredibly down-to-earth individuals, with real dreams and intentions, and above all they’re real people!”

Cynthia Jerry, Executive Director of the Miss Virgin Islands Scholarship Organization says, “We are all very proud of Janeisha. Her poise and grace are noted wherever she goes as our State Representative.”

Miss America: Reality Check will be hosted by actor Michael Urie, of the popular Ugly Betty television series. Advice will be offered to the contestants by special guests including current the Miss America, Lauren Nelson; TLC’s hit series, What Not to Wear stars Stacy London and Clinton Kelly; makeup artist Napoleon Perdis; hairstylist Kim Vo; choreographer Fred Tallaksen; and fashion expert Randolph Duke.
