According to Director of Communications in the Chief Minister's Office Sandra Ward, the leaders used the visit to discuss several matters of common interest to the Territories.
"The leaders discussed matters related to the Inter-Virgin Islands Council and this year's observance of USVI-BVI Friendship Day to be hosted by the USVI in May," Ward said.
The Director of Communications said the Chief Minister enjoyed the meeting with Governor DeJongh, especially in light of the very close relationship that continues to exist between the BVI and USVI.
"We share a deep common heritage politically, culturally, and economically and both the Chief Minister and Governor are keen to maintaining the close working relationship that our Territories have established and enjoyed over many years," Ward said.
Ward said that the courtesy call followed a general meeting and luncheon for the Governor and his delegation.
The official visit was the first by Governor de Jongh since he was sworn into office on January 1 following his victory at the polls last November. | | | | Reads : 218 | | | |
