Former Jamaican World Junior gold medallist Simone Facey is looking forward to competing at this weekend's NCAA Indoor National Championships, which will be held at Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center.

Facey, a former Barton County sprinter, who won junior college titles while attending the institution located in Kansas is now at Texas A&M under the guidance of Pat Henry and she said she her confidence level is at the highest going into the championships, which started for her with the women's 60-metres dash on Friday.

The Jamaican newcomer will also compete in the women's 200m dash against some unfamiliar faces, but despite not knowing about her competitors Facey said she is well relaxed and ready to go.

"I am really confident going into this national championship," Facey said. "I worked hard for this one. I will be ready to go against the best, and hopefully I will be No. 1 at the end of the day.

"I haven't competed against them yet, but I am confident that we are all on the same level," Facey said of her fellow sprinters.

"I know I can do as much as they can do and I'm really confident. I'm not nervous. I'm really relaxed right now and trying to stay focused.”

Last season while attending Barton County, Facey captured the 60m and the 200m sprint double as well as running a leg on the winning 1,600 relay team at the NJCAA championships.

"I always try to do my best. Only my best is good enough when I compete," Facey said.

Meanwhile, despite numerous speculations that she would follow the footprints of fellow Jamaican and former Barton teammates, Veronica Campbell and Omar Brown and attend Arkansas, Facey chose Texas A&M with the feeling that her coaches could help her achieved her goals.

"[Anderson] is a wonderful coach," Facey said. "Coming here was the No. 1 choice for me. I knew with him I would be really good," she said.

Meanwhile, the latest results from Friday’s preliminaries sees Facey finishing second in her heat of the 60m behind fellow Jamaican Kerron Stewart, who has the fastest of the rounds with a 7.20. Also making were Trinidadian Kelly Ann Baptiste and Grenada’s Sherry Fletcher, who clocked 7.25 and 7.29, respectively.
