PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad: Four Trinidadian nationals accused of killing American war veteran, Balram "Balo" Maharaj, have been committed for extradition to the United States.
The ruling was handed down on Wednesday by Port of Spain Magistrate Lianne Lee Kim.
The accused, 32-year-old Anderson Straker, along with Wayne Pierre, Kevin "Shaka" Nixon and Christopher Sealey, are wanted in the United States for hostage-taking, resulting in the death of an American citizen.
The accused are also awaiting trial in Trinidad for Maharaj's kidnapping and subsequent murder.
Maharaj was vacationing at his relatives' Trinidad El Socorro home in April 2005, when he was abducted at a nearby bar.
A 3-million-dollar ransom was demanded for his release.
His dismembered body was found in January 2006 in Santa Cruz in Trinidad. |
