PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad: Trinidad and Tobago's Tourism Development Corporation (TTDCO) has signed a deal with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The deal centers around the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup matches to be played in the country and is aimed at giving exposure to the islands during the event. TTDCO is also using the event as a major marketing vehicle.

Trinidad and Tobago expects to see thousands of visitors entering the country over the seven week period.

"The real benefit is more the exposure that you get rather than the direct number of visitors," said Dr. James Heple, President of TTDCO.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner, Trevor Paul has assured the public that security will be stepped up during the hosting of the games.

Countries like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bermuda all have group games at the Queen's Park Oval, with South Africa, Ireland, Pakistan, Canada also playing warm-up matches at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine in Port of Spain.
