The first round was barely underway on the 7,526-yard Trump International course when downpours prompted organizers to suspend play after 18 players had teed off - only a handful of them completing one hole.
The round was to resume on Friday.
Six inches of rain had fallen on the seaside course by early afternoon.
Skip Kendall defied the difficult conditions when he eagled his first hole - the par-four 10th, where his seven-iron from 159 yards found the hole.
South African Rory Sabbatini and India's Jeev Milkha Singh are among the top contenders in the 3.5 million-dollar tournament, which is opposite the World Golf Championships CA Championship at Doral in Miami.
Doral has attracted 68 of the world's top players, while South Africa's Sabbatini is the highest-ranked player in this field at 55th in the world. | | | | Reads : 918 | | | |
