OSLO, Norway: The Maximising Velocity Power (MVP) camp, to which Jamaica's Sherone Simpson, the world's fastest woman in both the 100m and 200m in 2006 belongs, has said the sprinter is not seriously injured, despite easing up in the dash at the ExxonMobil Bislett Games - IAAF Golden League 2007 series in Oslo, Norway, on Friday.

Simpson, who trains with World record holder Asafa Powell and several other Caribbean stars under the watchful eye of Coach Stephen Francis on home soil in Kingston, looked on course to start her Golden League series on a good note up until 60m metres into the dash, before she suddenly eased up and allowed the field to just go ahead.

Fearing a new injury, especially with the Jamaica national trials only a week away and seeing that the Jamaican was under a good amount of pressure on Friday, fans of the sprinter and fellow track and field compatriots were keen to know of her status, which was immediately acknowledged by team agent, Paul Doyle.

"Well, she (Sherone Simpson) was running fine until about 60 metres when she felt her hip tighten up. This is the same problem for which she has had to pull out of the last few meets, but she did not injure herself, which is the good thing," Doyle told the Jamaican Observer on Saturday.

"She just felt it tighten up and decided to ease down and not take any chances."

Doyle expects the 2006 Commonwealth Games 200m champion to be just fine for the Jamaica Championships, which start next week.

"We all suspect that she'll be fine for next week at the National Championships and hopefully back in top form."

It is also reported that Michael Frater, the reigning World champion from Helsinki two years ago, is also doing fine, despite his withdrawal from the men's 100m dash on Friday, also in Oslo.
