CASTRIES, St Lucia: The Destiny Group of Companies, headed by Canadian businessman, David Singh recently made a donation of 38 beds to Victoria Hospital, St Lucia's main health institution.
Because of an acute shortage of beds these electric beds were put into immediate use.
Singh, is also offering more assistance to the Victoria Hospital. The Destiny Group of Companies say they would like to donate 100 hospital beds, but to date 38 have been brought and the nurses are appreciative of the assistance. Along with these beds the company plans to bring down some mattresses.
The Destiny Group of Companies has also requested that the hospital provide them with a wish list for assistance required for the island. Singh said he realizes there is no cafeteria on the hospital compound and has committed to construct one soon.
Pledges were made for equipment to the neonatal ward and these include, incubators, paramedic training and disaster response support.
Singh and his business partners have made a commitment of 2.2 million dollars worth of essential medication the top priority via the locally based Universal Health Care Trust, which is a business arm of the Destiny Group in St Lucia. |
