CARACAS, Venezuela: Venezuela is seeking ways to improve Grenada’s production capacity and increase trade between the two countries.

This was discussed during a meeting on Wednesday when Venezuelan Vice Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean Dr Rodolfo Sanz led a six member delegation to the Agency for Reconstruction and Development (ARD).

During discussions with Chief Executive Officer Richardson Andrews and other ARD officials, Vice Minister Sanz said this can be achieved through the development of skills, the establishment of Venezuelan enterprises in Grenada, joint ventures with Grenadian companies, among other measures that can increase domestic production and promote exports.

“Caribbean and Latin American economies can be integrated in a productive way,” the Vice Minister said, adding that Venezuela is investing in freighter ships to facilitate increased trade in the Caribbean Basin.

Areas of possible collaboration include training in construction skills, investment in poultry farming, and other productive initiatives.

Andrews told the Vice Minister that the ARD will prepare the initial document “to merge your ideas with ours.” The Vice Minister said Venezuela plans to send another delegation in two weeks to discuss these developments in greater detail.
