BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: Former West Indies wicketkeeper Mike Findlay, who is the newly appointed manager of the West Indies team, has said he would be delighted to help the current young team wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin in any way possible during the team’s lengthy tour of England.

The 63-year-old St Vincent former glove-man played 10 Tests for the West Indies between 1969 and 1973 and was accounted for 21 dismissals – 19 of which came in catches and two as stumpings.

“I’ve spoken to the coaches on that and if there is anyway I can help Denesh with his wicket-keeping I certainly will,” Findlay told reporters.

“The players need all that, the players need all that sort of assistance so if there is anyway on tour I can help him or any other player for that matter in terms of their mental strength and so on, I certainly will.”

After making an impressive start to his international career with both bat and glove, Ramdin, 22, who is seen by many as the long-term man to stand behind the stumps for the West Indies, has been criticized for making several mistakes in key moments.

The Trinidadian is currently on tour with the Windies team in England and is set to improve on the 39 dismissals he has achieved so far in Test cricket.

After making his debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2005, where he made a work-man like half century in the first innings, Ramdin has gone on to add 14 more Test matches to his name, while accounting for 38 catches, three of which came in his debut match.
