Dominican Republic president to attend US presidential inauguration

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic: President of the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez, through his presidential office, has confirmed that he will travel to Washington, DC, on January 19 to attend the next day’s inauguration ceremony for Barack Obama as the next president of the United States.

The Dominican president´s office confirmed that he is on the official list of Heads of State, Prime Ministers and special guests who have been invited to the ceremony from all over the world.
Fernandez appreciated the special invitation as showing the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries. The president will be accompanied by the Dominican ambassador in Washington, Flavio Darío Espinal, along with other high ranking Dominican officials.
Various government officials will also be in Washington to meet their counterparts from other countries, as the Dominican Republic continues to make efforts to increase the country’s visibility in commerce and tourism. | | | | Reads : 1006 | | | |
