Greene, who replaced Winston Felix, has been acting as head of the police force since July 2006.
He was sworn in at a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, which was attended by Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force, Gary Best, and top personnel of the police force.
Several ministers of the government were also present at the swearing in ceremony, at which Jagdeo said that he was pleased with the performance of Greene and told him that the government expects him to continue to perform his duties at the highest level.
Meanwhile, acting Chancellor of the Judiciary Carl Singh and acting Chief Justice Ian Chang are still to be confirmed in the two top judicial positions.
Under the amended constitution, the opposition leader has to agree to the confirmation of the Head of the Judiciary and the Chief Justice. | | | | Reads : 610 | | | |
