Trinidad and Tobago move into high for hosting Fifth Summit of the Americas

Email To Friend Print Version | PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad: The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has heightened its preparation for the hosting of two major events in early 2009, the Fifth Summit of the Americas and the Caricom Heads of Government meeting.
Both are to be held in Port of Spain begining from April 17, 18, and 19th.
The Summits of the Americas are held every three to four years and bring together the 34 democratically elected Heads of State and Government in the Western Hemisphere to exchange ideas and opinions on the political, economic, social, and security challenges confronting the region.
Some one thousand media representatives and about four thousand visitors are expected to be in the country along with a high level of foreign and local security personel.
Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Mariano Browne speaking at a post cabinet news conference meeting in Port of Spain said government and the Fifth Summit Secretariat have moved into high gear.
He also said that plans for arial, ground and the sea port areas of the country are in the final stages of preparation.
The government of Trinidad and Tobago is hoping the use this summit and the subsequent Caricom heads of government to discuss a number of issues revelent the the region.
