The IFS is a vital economic sector of the Netherlands Antilles, but at this moment no one seems to know exactly what this international financial crisis entails for the IFS or when it will settle down.

“We take these developments very seriously, but we need not panic. We need to take stock of the situation and discuss how we can mitigate any negative effects on our sector and especially we have to be on the look out for any new opportunities,” Rosaria said.

The most important local actors of the Netherlands Antilles’ IFS are planning to attend the meeting: The International Bankers Association, the Central Bank, the Department of Fiscal Affairs, the University of the Netherlands Antilles and representatives of funds, captives and trust. This top will take place on Thursday 20 November.
