ROSEAU, Dominica:  In an effort to increase the number of hotel rooms in Dominica and to increase the level of economic activity in the country, the government continues to grant concessions to a number of private sector entities on the island.

As a result of the concessions granted by Cabinet between January and April 2007, at least one hundred and sixty new jobs will be created and an additional eighty-three hotel rooms are expected to be added to Dominica’s hotel room inventory, with a projected capital investment of $31 million.

The concessions granted are in support of the establishment of a water bottling operation, hotel and resort developments and restaurants.

The government of Dominica says it will continue to grant concessions in the form of tax holidays, exemptions and waivers to private sector entities in an effort to stimulate investment and boost income and employment in Dominica.
