Montserat swears in new government

BRADES, Montserrat (GIS) -- Ruben Meade was sworn in on Thursday as Montserrat's eighth Chief Minister by the Governor, Peter Waterworth. The Chief Minister and Minister of Finance also has responsibility for local government, immigration, information communication, regional affairs, tourism, economic development and trade. 

The governor then swore in Easton Taylor Farrell as Minister of Agriculture, Lands Housing, the Environment & Ecclesiastical Affairs. Charles Kirnon was sworn in as the Minister of Labour, Communication & Works and Colin Riley as Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.

Following the brief ceremony, the Chief Minister addressed a gathering outside the Governor’s office. He announced that Member of Parliament; Jermaine Wade will assist Minister Colin Riley at the Ministry of Education & Health and Member of Parliament; David Osborne will be attached to the Chief Minister’s Office.

Meade went on to say that the new Government will serve all the people of Montserrat.
