Montserrat Calabash Festival in full swing

BRADES, Montserrat -- Montserrat Calabash Festival 2009 is dubbed, “Montserrat’s Premier Summer Festival” and the big celebration began over the July 11-12 weekend with a Family Fun Day and Fashion Show on Saturday.
On Sunday, July 12, Neighbourly Day began with an early morning hike followed by a Prayer & Thanksgiving Service at the Roman Catholic Church at Lookout.
A number of exciting events and activities are planned for the remainder of the week. Some of these include; Calabash Exhibition at the Montserrat National Trust, Island Tours, Dr George Irish Lecture series, Sacred Musical Recital, Food Fair, Hikes and Boat Tours to Plymouth.
The Grand Finale takes places on Saturday, July 19, with a Gala Evening of music at the Montserrat Cultural Centre.
It is hoped that the staging of a successful Calabash Festival 2009 translates into the much needed local economic stimuli. | | | | Reads : 497 | | | |
