Letter: Licensing of journalists

Published on Friday, November 6, 2009Email To Friend    Print Version

Dear Sir:

Regarding the attempts by CARICOM to initiate the licensing of journalists, a most blatant attempt to dim the light of exposing bad behaviour and corruption among those in authority. The Association of Caribbean Media Workers must partner with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) in the US for support. There are hundreds of expats in the ranks of this organization.

Send communications directly to Kathy Y Times, President, and request the mobilization of the resources to shut down this infringement of free speech whose near relative is censorship.

If these politicians cannot stand the heat of press sunlight, they should get out of the proverbial political kitchen.
