GEORGETOWN, Guyana -- Robert Corbin, the leader of Guyana's opposition People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), on Monday handed over to the local police force a list of some 450 names of people murdered in recent years, allegedly by the Shaheed ‘Roger' Khan Gang.

After handing over the list containing the names of victims of extra-judicial killings, those killed in strange circumstances and other unexplained deaths, Corbin told reporters that as a concerned citizen he was willing to provide information that should have been in the possession of the police force in the first place.
“The law requires the commissioner of police to investigate any death under unusual circumstances and in some cases where some deaths are unexplained,” Corbin noted.
However, the Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee has questioned the delay in submitting the list to the police noting that any serious party or group would want to collaborate in such investigation.
“My position is give the police whatever evidence you have and if they don’t use that information then you say what you have to say about the police, they would be in a much better position,” Rohee said.
But even as the opposition leader provided the list he has maintained his party and by extension the calls by the joint opposition parties for an international inquest into the alleged “Phantom Squad” killings in Guyana.
But Rohee insists that the Guyana police force is the agency legally responsible for investigating such allegations against Khan and any other person.
“We still maintain that position and are committed to pursuing anyone engaged in any criminal activity. The United States government has been asked and is committed to providing information on the allegations made against Khan [Shaheed Roger]. | | | | Reads : 472 | | | |
