GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands: The Net News Group (NNG), a widely-read media publishing and communications company based in the Cayman Islands, has established a contributor partnership with McClatchy-Tribune Information Services (MCT), one of the largest media groups in the United States. NNG will contribute daily content from the Cayman Islands and the wider Caribbean, including regionally-based news stories, sports reports, and editorial commentary.

Desmond Seales, Publisher and Editor in Chief of the Net News Group.
The partnership is the most recent in the expanding alliances of NNG. The affiliation will provide increased exposure for NNG’s Caribbean-based reporting, and it will bring enhanced insight into the Caribbean region for MCT’s media clients.

Desmond Seales MBE, Publisher and Editor in Chief of the Net News Group, said, “We are pleased to be associated with such a prestigious news gathering and publishing organisation as McClatchy-Tribune. We feel this association will be mutually beneficial and rewarding, and it will also help to bring the Caribbean to the world. McClatchy-Tribune is one of the largest news organisations in the world, representing some of the best-known publications and media outlets that exist today. We are delighted to embark upon this new journey, and we look forward to a long and rewarding partnership.”

Established in 1999, the Net News Group produces high quality print publications and maintains a number of associated news-oriented regional websites, of which the two most popular -- www.caymannetnews.com and www.caribbeannetnews.com – attract some 17 million page views annually from within the Caribbean and beyond.

NNG also publishes a daily newspaper in the Cayman Islands, Cayman Net News, which includes weekly Business and Lifestyle supplements.

In addition, the Group has a media and public relations division, which provides promotional and media marketing services to major clients in both the public and private sectors.

McClatchy-Tribune Information Services is a regional/business news service that moves more than 120,000 stories each month covering state and regional news across the United States, all major American industries and companies, and many international locations and businesses. Operated jointly by the McClatchy Company and Tribune Company, MCT serves more than 1,200 media clients, online information services and information resellers across the globe.

The McClatchy Company is the third-largest newspaper company in the United States. The company dates to the California Gold Rush era of 1857, when James McClatchy was one of the founding editors of its first newspaper, The Sacramento Bee -- one of the oldest newspapers in the West.

With the acquisition of Knight Ridder Inc. in 2006, McClatchy significantly expanded the company’s Washington, DC, news bureau and gained an international presence with the addition of 10 foreign news bureaus.

The McClatchy Company today owns 30 daily newspapers in 29 US markets. These markets are growing 50 percent faster than the national average. In each of its daily newspaper markets, McClatchy operates the leading local website, offering readers information, comprehensive news, advertising, e-commerce and other services.

The Tribune Company is America’s largest employee-owned media company, operating businesses in publishing, interactive and broadcasting. In publishing, Tribune’s leading daily newspapers include the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun, Sun Sentinel (South Florida), Orlando Sentinel, Hartford Courant, Morning Call and Daily Press. The Company’s broadcasting group operates 23 television stations, WGN America on national cable, Chicago’s WGN-AM and the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Popular news and information websites complement Tribune’s print and broadcast properties and extend the Company’s nationwide audience.
