All on schedule for 2009 OECS swimming championships

ST GEORGE’S, Grenada -- Come November 6, 2009, some of the best junior swimmers from the Organisartion of Eastern Caribbean States members countries will dive into the Good Hope Pool, and race against each other in a bid to be the sub-region’s best.

This will be when the 2009 Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Amateu Swimming Championships, scheduled to be held from November 6-8, 2009 splashes off at the Good Hope Pool in Grenada.

According to word recieved form the Grenada Amateur Swimming Association, the countries that have already signed on are Grenada with 34 swimmers, Saint Lucia with 34 swimmers, Antigua 29 swimmers , and St Vincent and the Grenadines 10 swimmers.

Speaking to sportcaraibe, president of the Grenada Amateur Swimming Association Dr Jane Noel said that the GASA have put together plans which would ensure the proper management of the event.

Special arrangements have been made with a number of hotels to house the teams. The hotels are Blue Horizon hotel, Grand Beach and Tropicana.

Local tour companies have been co-opted into providing bus transportation, with plans for meals both at the hotels and at the pool during the meet, already finalised.

Dr Noel also pointed out that a hospital ambulance will be on site, along with two top class consultants in paediatrics and orthopaedics on site for the whole meet plus several other local doctors
