Five male contestants representing Jamaica, St Lucia, Barbados, Martinique and Guyana will battle for the crown. They will appear in full female attire during every appearance. Judging from the show’s preparations, the contestants are expected to be fabulous female impersonators.
Typically, gay males help in beauty pageants from behind the scenes. However, at the 2009 Gay Caribbean/USA Pageant, they are taking center stage as beauty queens.
In keeping with most pageant criteria, the contestants will be judged based on the following categories: talent, couture swimwear, evening wear and interview. The show will afford Caribbean gays an opportunity to showcase their talents before a home crowd. The reason being, Brooklyn is home to the event and also to the largest population of Caribbean people, outside of the region itself.
