Dear Sir:
Readers of news concerning the island of Dominica need to be alerted to the fact that there have been two serious incidents of violent attacks on yachtsmen anchored near Portsmouth this year alone.

It is important that anyone visiting the island is aware of the risks involved as Dominicans related to the tourist industry continue to proclaim how safe their island is in an effort to protect their jobs.
I believed what they told me, and suffered accordingly when my yacht was robbed at anchor by three men armed with a gun and machetes. My husband and I were tied up, threatened with death, beaten and robbed. Two of the men were imprisoned when they were caught robbing a second yacht but one remains free to this day.
