They discussed the implementation of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) mandate from the Malta summit in 2005, which included progress on the Commission on Respect and Understanding and the Commonwealth Committee on Membership.

The Secretary-General also briefed the Barbados Prime Minister on preparations for the forthcoming CHOGM 2007 summit in Uganda in November.

Their talks also focused on the current state of economic and trade negotiations between the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of countries and the European Union.  They discussed options to deepen the work of the Commonwealth to enhance the interests of small states in economic and trade issues aimed at promoting regional integration and meeting the challenges of globalisation.

McKinnon headed for St Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday for a three-day visit.
