Cuban denounces new TV Marti effort
Thursday, February 8, 2007
HAVANA, Cuba (UPI): Cuban officials have criticised a decision to show US-funded TV Marti on Spanish-language stations in Miami picked up by satellite in Cuba.
"They are trying new ways to get their meddlesome and subversive messages, designed to destabilize the Cuban revolution, seen and heard in our country," an official statement said, The Miami Herald reported Tuesday.
TV and Radio Marti are officially banned in Cuba, though the signal can be picked up by those with illegal satellite dishes.
"The authorities of our country, with the support of the vast majority of the people, are taking and will take the measures" needed to halt the reception of TV Marti in Cuba, Granma newspaper reported earlier this week.
