Barbados ministry to launch website on HIV/AIDS

Tuesday, February 6, 2007

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (GIS): Come Wednesday, February 14, the Barabdos Ministry of Health will be launching an Online Media Centre.

The website has been developed by the Ministry to act as an information portal disseminating vital data on its HIV/AIDS Programme, including its mandate and functions.

According to a Ministry of Health spokesperson, hundreds of calls and visits to the Ministry of Health HIV/AIDS Programme offices by local, regional and international partners, visitors, students, media, corporate and other organisations suggested the necessity and timeliness for the Online Media Centre.

It was also pointed out that the Ministry’s HIV/AIDS Programme had been recognised as a best practice model and was being patterned by many of its regional partners.

Through the website, it is expected that the components of the Ministry’s Programme will be readily accessible worldwide.

Minister of Health, Jerome Walcott, will deliver the feature address at the launch ceremony, which takes place at the Hilton Barbados.
