Caribbean Net News: Reggae Boy Burton could leave Sheffield Wednesday

LONDON, England: Jamaican international Deon Burton, a former Derby County striker might be on his way out from Sheffield Wednesday, following the signing of Leon Clarke.

Wednesday is said to be packed with a selection of strikers and although he has been a member of manager Brian Laws' plans in recent weeks, Caribbean Net News understands that Burton is likely to depart from Hillsborough.

He has been linked with a move to League Two side MK Dons, who were said to have been interested in the striker from the beginning of the season.

According to manager Laws, the club is blessed with several talented strikers, but they are all similar to each other and the arrival of Clarke will bring something different in the side.

"He's (Clarke) something we haven't got - A big, strong, pacy striker. We have excellent strikers but they're also very similar to one another," the boss said.

With top striker Marcus Tudgay tying up a four-year deal and Laws currently in negotiations to tie up Steve Maclean's future at the club, Burton at age 30, who has only scored four goals this season, could well be the one to see the exit door to allow more wages for incoming players.

Should Burton depart and seal a deal with MK Dons, he would not be a strange face to manager Martin Allen as he played under the boss' leadership over two years ago while he was at Brentford.
