Minister outlines components of Dominica's housing revolution

ROSEAU, Dominica:
ROSEAU, Dominica: Dominica's Minister for Housing, Reginald Austrie has outlined the seven components of the Government’s Housing Revolution. Austrie made the remarks at the Handing Over Ceremony where Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Roosevelt Skerrit presented a cheque for $3 million to the AID Bank in support of housing development in Dominica. The seven components of the Housing Revolution are: 1. Money being made available to GHLB and AID Bank 2. Home Repair and Maintenance Programme 3. Installation of Washroom Facilities 4. Purchase of model houses with assistance from the Government 5. $3 Million from China for the Carib Territory 6. Shelter Development Programme administered by AID Bank on behalf of Government 7. Squatter Regularization Programme An initial amount of $32.4 million dollars will finance Government’s Housing Revolution. The Government of Venezuela is providing $29.4 million dollars in the form of a grant and a soft loan while the Chinese Government is providing a grant of $3 million dollars.
