New medical school creating an impact in Dominica’s economy, says PMWednesday, January 10, 2007ROSEAU, Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has been talking about the economic impact being created as a result of the establishment of a new offshore medical school in Dominica - the All Saints University School of Medicine.
According to the Prime Minister, the student intake in Dominica has increased by 24 per cent. The All Saints University School of Medicine which opened its doors earlier this year now has about one hundred students, with the student population expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. The Prime Minister revealed that the school intends to settle in the Grand Bay area, adding that Government hopes that the new school will create the kind of impact on the economy that Ross University School of Medicine has created in the north of the island and Portsmouth in particular. Skerrit also revealed that the presence of the school here has already begun to be felt by home owners and landlords.
