Japan and United Nations extend assistance to Grenada

ST GEORGE'S, Grenada: The Government of Japan and the United Nations have decided to extend assistance to Grenada through the Trust Fund for Human Security for a project entitled Restoing Livelihoods in Grenada after Hurricanes Ivan and Emily, at a sum totaling 1,026,538 US dollars.

Grenadians will benefit from measures to mitigate the social impacts of the disasters caused by the two hurricanes.  The Japan-UN Project will also enhance Grenadians disaster preparedness by providing them with concrete and sustainable benefits including new skills and employment options. 

Activities to be implemented are:

The project will be implemented by the United Nations, through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); the United Nations Children Fund (NICEF); the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM); and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in Grenada.
