Christmas was hijacked by the early Christians

Dear Sir:

I thought Anthony Hall�s article on Christians and Christmas was excellent, but Ed Rapier�s rejoinder today prompts me to point out that Christmas was hijacked by the early Christians and not all of us want to celebrate it as a Christian festival.

It is an ancient festival surrounding the winter solstice (December 21), and Christmas trees, Santa Claus, etc. have nothing to do with Christianity.
