According to a report submitted to Caribbean Net News on Thursday, the rising quarter-mile star got married to Canadian Spencer Ling at Abundant Life Bible Church in Nassau, Bahamas, witnessed by family members and friends from around the globe.

The 27-year-old Amertil, who competed in all three sprint events this season, the 100m, 200m and 400m, won a bronze medal at the 11th IAAF World Indoor Championships in Moscow, Russia, in early March. She also went on to place fourth at the 18th Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, later in the month, before finishing up the year at the 4th IAAF World Athletics Final.

Amertil follows in the footsteps of her countrywoman Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie, who also got married this year. The two joined former national record holder Pauline Davis-Thompson, who is now the coach of Amertil and World and Olympic champion Tonique Williams-Darling, who is currently the Bahamas national record holder, as the notable quarter-milers who got married.

Other than celebrating her new life, Amertil will be busy preparing for the upcoming track and field season, which kicks off with a number top level indoor meets, especially in Britain and USA.

She, however, will be focusing on surpassing her 2005 Helsinki World Championships performance, where she finished third in her semi-finals when she prepares for the 2007 championships which will be held in Osaka, Japan.

She will be also aiming to finally break the 50 second barrier, a standard which her coach Davis-Thompson believes will come as Amertil progresses.
