St Lucia swears in new government ministers

CASTRIES, St Lucia: The swearing-in ceremony of the new government ministers took place in St Lucia on Tuesday at the official residence of the Prime Minister, where they took the Oath of Allegiance, the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy.

St Lucia's new prime minister, Sir John Compton announced a cabinet of eleven senior ministers and four junior ministers.

The full slate of newly appointed ministers reads as follows:

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance - Sir John George Melvin Compton.

Minister for Home Affairs and National Security - Dr Keith Mondesir.

Minister for Housing, Urban Renewal and Local Goverment - Richard Frederick.

Minister for Education and Culture - Arsene Vigil James.

Minister for Social Transformation, Human Services, Family Affairs Youth and Sports - Lenard Montoute.

Minister for Health and Labour Relations - Stephenson King.

Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries - Ezechiel Joseph.

Minister for Trade, Industry and Commerce - Guy Mayers.

Minister for Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities - Guy Eardley Joseph.

Minister for External Affairs, International Financial Services, Information and Broadcasting - Rufus Bousquet.

Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation - Senator Allen Chastanet.

Minister for Economic Affairs, Economic Planning, National Development and Public Service - Senator Ausbert d'Auvergne.

Minister in the MInstry of Education and Culture -Senator Gaspard Peter David Charlemagne.

Minister in the Ministry of Social Transformation, Human Services, Family Affairs, Youth and Sports - responsible for Human Services and Family Affairs - Senator Charlotte Elizabeth Theresa Tessa Mangal.

Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries - Marcus Neill Nicholas.

Minister in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Commerce - Edmund Estephane.

Sir John and the other ministers will begin taking care of the business of the country as of Wednesday.
