NFL's Miami Dolphins draft the Bahamas to sponsorship team
12-08-2006

NASSAU, Bahamas: Die-hard Miami Dolphins fans are getting an extended season this year with a series of events sponsored by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and the Miami Dolphins football team that includes hosting the "Dol-Fan Fest" on Grand Bahama Island.

The anticipated event brings fans and select Miami Dolphins football players, cheerleaders and alumni together for the ultimate off-shore tailgate party. It also features a sports clinic open to Bahamian children and visiting Miami Dolphins fans.

As the preferred destination of the Miami Dolphins, The Bahamas' images and messaging will appear on the Jumbo Tron at Dolphin Stadium during games, on Internet banners and in GameDay, the official magazine of the Miami Dolphins.

The Bahamas will also host the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders for their annual calendar shoot and for Bimini Bash, a fishing tournament held just 50 miles off the coast of Florida, on the island of Bimini.

"The Bahamas' close proximity to Florida has made it the 'go-to' destination for South Florida residents for many years. We consider Floridians our neighbours and look at this partnership as a cultural exchange programme of sorts. We bring the beauty of The Bahamas to Dolphin Stadium and the players bring their enthusiasm and athletic expertise to The Bahamas," said Vernice Walkine, director-general of tourism for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

Declared one of the hottest destinations in the world by Conde Nast Traveler, the 700 Islands Of The Bahamas attract visitors with world-class diving and fishing, beautiful turquoise water and miles of picture perfect beaches. Island-life, from the non-stop excitement and entertainment of Nassau/Paradise Island and Grand Bahama Island to the laid-back lifestyle of the Out Islands, comes in a variety of flavours for discerning travelers yet draped in one colorful Bahamian backdrop.
